Emma Stone is nominated for Best Actress and Best Picture as a producer for Bugonia. That is the second time she has pulled both nominations for the same film. The first was Poor Things.

She is now the youngest woman in Oscar history to reach seven nominations, passing Meryl Streep. Two Best Actress wins already — La La Land and Poor Things. A third would put her in territory only Katharine Hepburn, Meryl Streep, and Ingrid Bergman have reached.

Bugonia is her third film with Yorgos Lanthimos. The Favourite was the audition. Poor Things was the breakthrough. This one is the proof that the collaboration is not a phase — it is a body of work.

The question is not whether Emma Stone is the best actress of her generation. It is how long the rest of the field pretends the race is still open.
